Iran kills three Peshmerga, wounds one

Iranian security forces on Friday killed three Kurdish opposition members in Sanandaj (Sina), the provincial capital of Iranian Kurdistan.

SANANDAJ, Iran (Kurdistan24) - Iranian security forces on Friday killed three Kurdish opposition members in Sanandaj (Sina), the provincial capital of Iranian Kurdistan.

Iranian guards ambushed the Peshmerga, killing three and arresting one, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced.

Behzad Nori, Hamid Siefpanahi and Sabah Hoseinpanahi are the three freedom fighters who lost their lives in the attack, local news agencies close to Komalah said.

The arrested Peshmerga is reportedly Ramin Hoseinpanahi who was also wounded in the clashes.

IRGC has lost 6 members and five more were wounded, local news agencies report but IRGC has not confirmed.

Komalah (Society of Revolutionary Toilers of Iranian Kurdistan) is a left-wing Kurdish political party based in Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan.

Komala was active in Southern Kurdistan of Iran in the 80s and 90s. Abdullah Mohtadi is the current secretary general of the party.

Iran does not recognize Komalah or any other Kurdish opposition group and bans civil activities. 

Komala was founded in Tehran, Iran by a group of Kurdish university students led by Foad Mostafa Soltani.

Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution or Sepāh for short)— is a branch of Iran's Armed Forces founded after the Iranian Revolution on 5 May 1979.

Whereas the regular military (or Artesh) was constitutionally mandated to defend Iran's borders and maintain internal order, the IRGC is to protect the country's Islamic rules.
