In a press conference, the head of the Kurdistan Integrity Commission Ahmed Anwar announced the statistics of the commission’s activities in the past six months.

Anwar mentioned there had been 195 corruption cases in Erbil Province, 116 cases in Sulaimani, and 67 cases in Dohuk.

He stated that in six months in Erbil, 15 cases were sent to specialized courts, and nine cases are still under investigation in courts.

In 2016, the President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani met with the Commission and public prosecutors in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the President expressed his full support to the group in eradicating corruption with no impunity on any officials.

“We have to make reform and combat corruption just like how Peshmerga forces fight against Da’esh,” President Barzani had said, using the Arabic pejorative for the Islamic State.
