Kurds in Europe vow to demonstrate for as long as Peshmerga fight on front lines

Kurds in Finland and Germany on Thursday demonstrated in support of the Kurdish Peshmerga who continue to defend attacks by Iraqi forces and Iranian-backed Shia militias in disputed areas.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Kurds in Finland and Germany on Thursday demonstrated in support of the Kurdish Peshmerga who continue to defend attacks by Iraqi forces and Iranian-backed Shia militias in disputed areas.

“We pray for our brave Peshmerga,” a demonstrator in Finland told a Kurdistan 24 correspondent. “We support them in their continued defense of Kurdistan.”

Hundreds of Kurds gathered waving the flag of Kurdistan and chanting peaceful slogans.

“We stand by our strong Kurdish forces who sacrifice their lives to defend the honor of Kurdistan and the people of Kurdistan,” another demonstrator said.

Meanwhile, in Hannover, Germany, the Kurdish diaspora was in full voice, vowing to continue supporting and demonstrating on behalf of Kurdistan and Peshmerga soldiers.

“We will stand and demonstrate in the streets for as long as the Kurdish forces are fighting on the front lines,” a Kurdish woman at the rally told Kurdistan 24.

“This is a test for Europe and the international community,” she added. “Will they stand up and defend the rights of the people of Kurdistan?”

“We hope the international community supports the Kurds against all the oppressors and enemies of Kurdistan,” another attendee at the rally said.

The demonstrations followed recent protests around the world, as well as the Region, where Kurds marched before US and UN offices to express their rage at the international community’s silence as Iraqi forces and Iranian-backed militias attack Kurdistan.

The people of Kurdistan were outraged at Washington’s inaction as the Shia Hashd al-Shaabi militias assailed the multi-ethnic city of Kirkuk and other disputed territories last week using US-supplied weapons.
