Iran: US causes conflict in region to safeguard Zionists

“The modern-day ‘Pharaoh’ is represented by the US, the Zionist Regime, and their accomplices in the region, who seek to create wars in our region, and this is plotted by the US,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The enemy’s announcement of Quds as the capital city of occupied Palestine proves their weakness and inability, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday, using the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

He added that Palestinians are helpless and unable to achieve their goals. However, “Victory is for the Islamic Ummah; Palestine will be free, and the Palestinian people will be victorious,” Khamenei affirmed.

He was addressing a group of high government officials, ambassadors of Islamic countries, and participants during the 31st International Conference on Islamic Unity.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and would move its embassy there from Tel Aviv, breaking away from long-standing US policy.

“The US, global arrogance, [and] the Zionist Regime,” are all desperately trying to attack Muslim countries, but they will be defeated, Khamenei said.

“The modern-day ‘Pharaoh’ is represented by the US, the Zionist Regime, and their accomplices in the region, who seek to create wars in our region, and this is plotted by the US,” he added.

The Supreme Leader also slammed American politicians for trying to sow discord and conflict among Muslim countries.

“American officials say that they need to cause war in the region to safeguard the Zionist Regime,” The Iranian leader concluded.

Several Iranian-backed Shia militias and influential religious figures in Iraq have also strongly condemned the US’ decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, issuing thinly-veiled threats to American interests in the region.
