Aziz stated that the suspect immediately turned himself in to the Internal Security Forces (Asaiysh) in Ainkawa and is currently under arrest awaiting trial.

“Investigations into the exact motive behind the murder are ongoing,” and the police officer assured that they are considering the possibility of there having been “previous disagreements.”

Mid-June, the EGPD also arrested a suspect in the murder of a Peshmerga fighter just outside the Kurdistan Region’s capital.

The Peshmerga was a Lieutenant Colonel and was on his way home with his son when a man, with whom he had previously argued with, shot him in a brazen public attack.
