PHOTOS: Stunning sights at Erbil resort attracts local, foreign tourists
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The natural beauty of Felaw Pond, located in the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil province, has made it one of the most attractive tourist destinations for foreigners and locals all over the region in recent years.
Until recent years, the resort site had remained untouched and unvisited as it is hidden among mountains five kilometers away from Erbil's Choman district close to the Iranian border in the Balakayati area.
“We request our beloved tourists to preserve the nature of Felaw pond," said Halgurd Mohammed, Head of Choman tourism, when speaking to Kurdistan 24 recently. He noted that the area had stayed remarkably clean due to the lack of visitors amid the region-wide coronavirus lockdown.
The sounds of nature, the refreshing air, and the view of the everpresent snow-blanketed mountains in the distance are just some of the reasons that have made Felaw Pond a go-to destination year-round.
