ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Thanks to aid collected by local non-government organizations and the Kurdistan Regional Government, reconstruction began Friday at the Sharya camp for displaced people in the Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province.

Hundreds of tents were destroyed and several people wounded in the fire that broke out at the camp in Duhok province on June 4. Sharya primarily houses Yezidis who were displaced from their homes by ISIS, and many were made homeless again by the fire.

On Wednesday, the UN Refugee Agency said the Kurdistan Regional Government had approved "semi-upgraded shelters" for the families who had lost their tents.

The building materials are provided by the local NGOs.
