KRG to respond to Iraq's rejection of special court for ISIS crimes
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Justice on Sunday said it will review the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq's decision to reject an Erbil request to establish a special court to prosecute ISIS crimes.

The Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers voted on April 28 to approve a draft law that calls for the creation of a new criminal court specializing in the prosecution of those who carried out crimes as part of ISIS.
The Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, in a statement affirmed the legislation creates "a pathway towards accountability, closure and above all, justice."
The federal court has rejected the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) request, Minister of Justice in the region, Firsat Ahmed, said in a statement.
"We will conduct a review of this decision with the relevant authorities," Ahmed added, noting further that though the KRG cannot appeal the federal court's decision, "there is still an opportunity for us to express our opinion."
