Russia eyes fostering trade, investment ties with Kurdistan Region

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The newly appointed Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev on Monday met with Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in the Kurdish capital, Erbil.

The two officials discussed Russia-Kurdistan Region relations, according to a statement from the premier's office.

Russia looks forward to “developing ties with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in investment and trade,” the ambassador told the Kurdish prime minister, the statement added.

Kutrashev also praised the development that the Kurdistan Region has witnessed in recent years, Barzani's office said.

The Kurdish prime minister, from his end, congratulated the Russian diplomat on his new posting in Iraq.
