Kurdistan's Sulaimani hit with 4.4 magnitude earthquake

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region's Sulaimani province and Cham Chamal district on Monday night were hit with 4.4-magnitude earthquakes, a seismological authority reported.

At 9:30 p.m local time, at least four earthquakes were felt inside Sulaimani's city center and its southern district of Cham Chamal, Fazil Ibrahim, the head of Kurdistan Region's weather and earthquakes authority, told Kurdistan 24 on Monday.

People in Cham Chamal went out from their homes in fear of buildings collapsing, the Kurdistan 24 correspondent in the town reported. The official said that the earthquake's epicenter was the Takya sub-district, located between Sulaimani city and Cham Chamal.
