ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A drone flying near the Iraqi airbase, Ain Al-Asad, in Anbar province, where US personnel are hosted, has been shot down, Reuters reported on Sunday.

The source did not elaborate whether the drone was for surveillance or a kamikaze.

No causalities or material damages have been reported, according to Reuters.

No further information is available at this time.

The base had previously been attacked by suicide drones and rockets, which the US has blamed on the pro-Iran militia groups.

The US-led anti-ISIS coalition concluded its combat mission in late 2021, shifting towards an advisory role for Iraqi forces.
