ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A Yezidi woman kidnapped by ISIS fighters on Aug. 3, 2014, was rescued on Saturday from the al-Hol camp in Syria.

She was only 16 years old when she was kidnapped by ISIS fighters in Sinjar and is one of thousands of victims.

In a television interview on Feb. 16, Asma Muhammed, the wife of former ISIS caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, stated that Al-Baghdadi had enslaved more than ten Yazidi girls.

"ISIS changed the Islamic State into a women's state," Muhammad said.

In Aug. 2014, ISIS militants attacked the Yezidi-majority town of Sinjar and nearby villages, killing at least 5,000 Yezidis as well as enslaving about 6,000 women and minors.

Yezidi organizations have repeatedly called on the international community and regional states to do more to find their missing women, men, and children.
