ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday met with German Minister of State Tobias Lindner, stressing continued support for the Peshmerga and cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the German Minister of State reaffirmed his country's continued support for the Peshmerga and cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The meeting focused on the importance of respecting the federal system of Iraq and protecting the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region.

"Although the Kurdistan Region is being pressured to give up its constitutional rights in various political, military, economic, and so-called legal ways, the Kurdish nation is never ready to compromise on their rights," the statement read.

"We have always been in favor of holding elections, but they must be legitimate, democratic, and constitutional and within the framework of a fair electoral law that guarantees the representation of all classes and communities of Kurdistan," the statement highlighted.

The situation in the camps in the Kurdistan Region was another topic of discussion; both sides agreed to pave the way for the voluntary return of refugees living in the camps to their places.
