Leader of ENKS extradited from Rojava

Following the arrest of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) leader in Qamishlo on Saturday, he was extradited to the Kurdistan Region the next day.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – Following the arrest of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) leader in Qamishlo on Saturday, he was extradited to the Kurdistan Region the next day.

Ibrahim Biro, head of the KNC, was arrested by Rojava Administration security forces along with the leader of the Kurdish Union Party Sleman Oso who was later released.

The security forces (Asayish) extradited the KNC leader from Rojava (Kurdistan of Syria) to the Kurdistan Region.

Following his arrival in the Region, Biro spoke to a Kurdistan24 reporter.

“A group of Asayish forces surrounded me on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. while en route to one of the KNC offices, and took me to a military building in a village near Amude,” he revealed.

“After six hours in captivity, they extradited me to the Kurdistan Region near the Rabi’a area,” Biro added.

He also said that one of the armed men threatened him by saying “this is your last visit to Rojava.”

On Friday, an organization close to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a statement accusing ENKS of standing against the Rojava revolution and Rojava Administration project.

The report said that ENKS would be brought to justice adding that the party’s officials should be prevented from entering the region.

Biro, during an exclusive interview with Kurdistan24 in June, said that “being a partner with PYD is very hard as it tortures and kidnaps the politicians that are against its policy.”

“We will no longer bend our heads for PYD’s dictatorial practices and autocracy,” the KNC leader added.

Biro warned that the escalating situation that PYD caused might lead the people of Rojava to revolt against them.

“Although sometimes we did not resort to protests in the past for the demonstrators’ safety, we will carry on our rallies, and the situation may reach the extent of an uprising,” he concluded.
