Kurdistan Region Prime Minister's office celebrates youth training program graduation

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - On Saturday, during a graduation ceremony in Erbil, Hemin Lihony, head of the Initiatives and Strategic Communications office in the Prime Minister's Office of the Kurdistan Region, emphasized the government's focus on youth development.
Speaking at the graduation of the first cohort of the youth training program, Lihony highlighted the significance of the occasion: “Today we are witnessing two important events: the graduation of a group of successful young individuals from our youth training program, and the continued success of our office in providing intensive training to the youth of Kurdistan, both locally and in the diaspora.”
He elaborated on the program's objectives, stating, “The training aims to strengthen skills and instill national sentiments among the youth of the Kurdistan Region. Since the establishment of our office, prioritizing youth engagement has been a key directive from the Prime Minister.”
He further stated that, “This focus reflects the Prime Minister's vision of encouraging youth participation in the social and political processes of the Kurdistan Region.”
Lihony underscored the program's emphasis on education and confidence-building: “Our goal is to educate the youth to build confidence and confront efforts that seek to undermine Kurdish identity and patriotism. We strive to reinforce Kurdish values and counteract the negative influences targeting our region's cultural heritage.”
He concluded with a call to action for the youth: “We aim to empower our youth to discern right from wrong, identify loyal individuals, and make informed decisions about the future of our country. It is crucial that they learn to think critically and independently about what is best for Kurdistan.”
The graduation event marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Initiatives and Strategic Communications office to foster a well-informed, confident, and patriotic youth population in the Kurdistan Region.
On Saturday, under the auspices of Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the first round of youth training graduation ceremonies was held in Erbil.
Over 4,200 young people from the Kurdistan Region celebrated their successful completion of the initial phase of the Kurdistan Region’s Youth Training course.
A memorandum of understanding with the Qatar Foundation was also signed during the event, further solidifying the partnership.

The six-month training program, supervised by the Initiatives and Strategic Communications office in the Prime Minister’s Office, provided extensive training to young people from the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish diaspora. The course aimed to educate participants and enhance their sense of national pride.
The memorandum of understanding between the Initiatives and Strategic Communications office in the Prime Minister's Office of the Kurdistan Region and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development will focus on developing the skills of the Kurdistan Region’s youth, supporting university and college students, and launching several other projects.
