Disinformation, false statement circulated regarding Narin’s tragic death

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – In a press conference held on Friday September 13th, in Diyarbakır, in north of Kurdistan, regarding the tragic death of Narin, 8 years old. The Head of Solicitors Syndicate, Nahit Eren revealed some details about a complaint they lodged to the police and court.

The death investigation file of the 8-year-old Narin Güran is still on going, and the court made a decision not to disclose any information while such suspected crime is under investigation, as well as to wait for the confirmed results would come out from the local authorities and police then to officially announce it.

Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç announced through the X social platform that 21 suspects have been detained as the investigation progressed.

On September 12th, 2024, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said “Narin's murder case conducted in private, but the presence of false rumors would damage the case while it is under investigation, anyone found involved in Narin’s murder will be severely sentenced”

Meanwhile, the Head of Diyarbakır Solicitors Syndicate Nahid Eren stated “a lawsuit was lodged as a plaintiff to participate in the case” their aim is to achieve justice and punish the criminal of murdering an eight-year-old child.

According to Eren’s statement to the press, Narin’s family made a request to lodge a lawsuit in the very early stage of the incident, but syndicated didn’t accept, however later it came aboard and worked on their behalf.  

“There was also a lot of false statements and online disinformation regarding Narin’s death incident. Misleading information was given to police that should have not been ignored” Eren further added “as well as misinformation was given about the investigation, there was some disinformation published through online network”  

“We did abide by the decision not to disclose any confidentiality about the case while it is under investigation”

The Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute gave Narin’s corps back to her family. Narin’s missing dead body found with one leg missing, the mortuary report’s comment was “it sounded been amputated by a wild creature or an animal”

There is no DNA trace found on Narin’s body to indicate someone had a role in her death incident.

Although, a question was referred to the head of Diyarbakır Solicitors Syndicate, to give any comments regarding Narin’s uncle’s voice record talking to a person, saying “is there girl still alive or dead?” 

Eren responded “we need more time to clear out all the questions about that voice record, in term of being genuine, not fabricate with AI, and all other details about the voice and its recording”
