Selahattin Demirtaş released to support his wife during surgery

Demirtaş was transferred to Istanbul on Friday to be by the side of his wife, Başak Demirtaş, who was scheduled for surgery.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Former co-leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, has been released from Edirne F-Type Prison with the official permission of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Demirtaş was transferred to Istanbul on Friday to be by the side of his wife, Başak Demirtaş, who was scheduled for surgery. Reports confirm that he was present during the procedure, offering his support during this critical time.

Meanwhile, Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), personally called Demirtaş while he was at the hospital to extend his well wishes and wish Başak Demirtaş a speedy recovery.

Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdulla Ocalan called for the disarmament of the PKK in a message delivered by Ahmet Türk Feb. 27.
