ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdulla Ocalan called for the disarmament of the PKK in a message delivered by Ahmet Türk on Thursday.

The imprisoned leader urged the organization to lay down weapons, dissolve itself, and hold a congress.

The Imrali delegation read Ocalan's message in both Kurdish and Turkish at a press conference following their meeting with him.

Dismissed Merdin Mayor Ahmet Türk presented Ocalan's message, stating that the PKK was established when the path to democracy was blocked and that the language of peace and democracy should be promoted.

"The PKK must lay down weapons, dissolve itself, and hold a congress," the message stated.

Ocalan expressed his willingness to take responsibility for this decision and guarantee peace talks.
