Italy Leads Gaza Medical Evacuation, Welcomes 31 Children and Families
“This is the 14th medical evacuation since January 2024 to assist the Palestinian civilian population,” Tajani wrote.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Italy has carried out its largest medical evacuation of Palestinian civilians from Gaza since the war began, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Thursday.
In a post on the social media platform X, Tajani said that 31 Palestinian children and their families — nearly 120 people in total — arrived in Italy aboard three special flights that landed in Rome, Milan, and Pisa. The children will receive medical treatment in Italian hospitals.
“This is the 14th medical evacuation since January 2024 to assist the Palestinian civilian population,” Tajani wrote, noting that the country has so far welcomed more than 180 Palestinian children and about 400 family members. Including family reunifications, 914 Palestinians from Gaza have arrived in Italy, making it “the leading Western country in terms of Palestinians received as part of humanitarian operations,” he added.
Tajani thanked the Italian government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union, the World Health Organization, and healthcare workers for their role in the mission. He also praised the dedication of diplomats, crisis unit staff, and other officials, many of whom, he said, sacrificed personal time during the summer to ensure the evacuation’s success.
“We will continue to support the civilian population of Gaza and work toward achieving peace,” Tajani stated. “Children are a symbol of hope and the future: ensuring their care and medical assistance is a duty.”
