Trump says may meet Putin before Inauguration

LOS ANGELES, United States (Kurdistan 24) – The American Republican Presidential Candidate said on Monday if he wins the election, he might meet with the President of the Russian Federation, failing to offer strategies or policies beyond that.

In conversation with a right-wing radio, Donald Trump said he believes Hillary Clinton’s position on Russia is “too tough,” adding the America-Russia relationship had not been this tense since after the cold war.

“They insult him [Vladimir Putin] constantly — I mean, no wonder he can’t stand Obama and Hillary Clinton,” Trump told radio host Michael Savage.

“We have Putin, who has no respect for Obama at all — doesn’t like him, and doesn’t respect him,” Trump told Savage, calling the difficulties a “catastrophic situation.”

Trump was criticized in the past for saying Obama was a weak leader compared to Putin.

He also created outrage among Kurds when he praised the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, and trivialized the Kurdish genocide ordered by him.

“Saddam Hussein throws a little gas, everyone goes crazy, ‘oh, he’s using gas!’” Trump said last December at Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The Governorate of Halabja explained in a letter what the “little gas” meant for Kurds.

“We would like to remind Mr. Trump that Saddam Hussein’s use of chemical gas in our city [Halabja] alone on March 16, 1988, killed over 5,000 civilians, including children, women, and men, and wounding over 10,000 more,” the letter read.

“In fact, during Saddam’s three-decade reign, he killed hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq. For example, in his so-called Anfal genocide campaign against Kurds, over 180,000 civilians are still unaccounted for,” the letter continued.

Trump was also recently harshly criticized for making lewd comments about women as a result of which many Republican officials withdrew their support for him.

Recent polls show Clinton has gained more support while Trump’s numbers have decreased.
