US Special Forces, Kurdistan Counter-terrorism kill IS leader in northwest Anbar

The leader's name was Sami Jassim Mohamad al-Jabouri, known as Haji Hamid. He was in charge of natural resources that are under the group’s control.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – On Wednesday, in a joint military operation with American Special Forces, the General Directorate of the Kurdistan Region Counter-terrorism killed a leader of the Islamic State (IS) in charge of natural resources.

In a statement, the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) General Directorate of Counter-terrorism revealed that in a joint operation with the US special forces in Wednesday morning, they killed an IS leader in the west of Iraq.

According to the statement, the operation took place in the town of Qa’im, northwestern of Anbar Province, located in Iraq–Syria border.

In the operation, they killed an IS leader and his assistant. The leader's name was Sami Jassim Mohamad al-Jabouri, known as Haji Hamid. He was managing natural resources that are under the group’s control.

The statement added that the operation was successful and the forces safely returned to their bases following the attack.

On June 28, KRSC announced the death of two IS leaders inside Mosul.

Bsam Sina, head of IS military in Mosul and Hatm al-Hamdoni, head of IS Finances were killed by the US-led coalition air strikes that relied on the intelligence provided by the KRSC's Counter-terrorism.  in the city.

On June 1, the KRSC revealed the identity of the four arrested IS members who were involved in many terrorist activities in Kirkuk.
