Real Madrid will ‘battle’ despite disappointing draw: Zidane

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane on Wednesday said his side would look forward despite his team’s 3-3 draw on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stages.

WARSAW, Poland (Kurdistan24) – Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane on Wednesday said his side would look forward despite his team’s 3-3 draw on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Zidane watched as his side went 2-0 up against opponents Legia Warsaw but eventually had to settle for a point after going down 3-2 late in the game.

“There’s a lot to analyze,” Zidane told reporters during a post-match press conference.

“When you go 2-0 up you need to think more and be more closed but we didn’t do that, and they could counter us,” he continued.

The former Real Madrid and France star remained optimistic of his team’s quality and said they were capable of moving on.

“What we’ll do is forget about this game…for us it doesn’t matter, we can still finish first, and we’ll battle to do so,” he said.

Madrid was ahead after the first minute when forward Gareth Bale scored a stunning left-footed volley.

After the match, the forward told reporters him and his teammates would learn from their mistakes and “improve going forward.”

“I think we had control of the game at 2-0 and lost concentration, and if you do that at this level you get punished,” Bale said.

“We’re not happy with the result, and we need to bounce back,” he continued. “We need to take the positives, learn from this, and move forward.”

Real Madrid is currently second-place in their group behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The Spanish club plays Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on Nov. 22 where a draw or victory would guarantee qualification into the next round.
