Kurdistan Region Presidency strictly condemns Tel Tamer attacks

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (K24) – Kurdistan Regional Presidency released an announcement on Friday, strictly condemning the series of car bomb attacks that took place in the Kurdish-populated town of Tel Tamer in Syrian Kurdistan [Rojava] on Thursday night—almost 80 civilians were killed and wounded.

On Friday, Kurdistan Regional Presidency released an announcement that strictly condemned the Thursday terrorist attacks in Tel Tamer town and expressed its condolences and sympathy to the family of the victims.

In the announcement, it was mentioned that "the terrorist attacks are a clear indicator of terrorist [Islamic State] fear" and that such actions "contradict humanity and religious principles". The Presidency hopes for a quick recovery for the wounded people of the attacks.

The announcement also states that "such kind of actions boosts the moral of all of us in combating and destroying terrorists, the enemies of humanity," and further, "Eventually the success will be for our people [Kurds] and eradication for terrorists."

On Thursday, triple suicide car bomb attacks took place in Tel Tamer in Rojava. Tel Tamer is a multi-ethnic town of some 5,000 people with Kurdish majority that is located in the northeastern parts of Syria.

In a statement to Reuters, Kurdish Peoples' Protection Units (YPG) Commander Redur Khalil pointed out that there has been a huge destruction in the area and "all of the victims are civilians".

Following the car bomb attacks, Islamic State (IS) insurgents immediately took the responsibility and ownership of the attacks via an announcement published on the internet.
