ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A suspected Turkish drone strike killed a commander and a fighter of the Shingal Resistance Units (YBS) and left two other people injured on Friday

The Kurdish Firat News Agency (ANF) reported that YBS Commander Azad Êzdin and YBS fighter Enver Tolhildan were killed. Those injured have not yet been identified.

The YBS is made up of members of the Yezidi religious minority. It is seen as a close associate of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a group that has led a decades-long insurgency against Ankara for Kurdish rights in Turkey.

Turkey has carried out regular airstrikes in Sinjar, targeting the YBS.

In early December, it carried out two strikes against the armed group.
