Prominent Iraqi legal expert dies

Ziyad, the son of the prominent lawyer, confirmed on his Facebook account that his father passed away in the Kadhimiya neighborhood in Baghdad at dawn.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Tariq Harib, a well-known Iraqi legal expert, died in Baghdad early Wednesday, his family announced. He was 77 years old.

Ziyad, the son of the prominent lawyer, confirmed on his Facebook account that his father passed away in the Kadhimiya neighborhood in Baghdad at dawn. 

He did not reveal the cause of death. 

Having obtained a law degree from Mustansiriyah University in 1975, Harib soon became a well-known figure in the Iraqi legal world. He also worked as a journalist for a while. 

The Iraqi Legal Bar Association extended its condolences to the legal figure, describing him as a “great symbol” of the foundation. 

Throughout his life, he authored more than 20 books and gave numerous lectures to a number of universities and colleges in Iraq on legal subjects. He often appeared on Iraqi television to commentate on legal issues.
