French Ambassador to Iraq thanks Barzani for initiative to solve Iraq's political deadlock

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani received the French Ambassador to Iraq Eric Chevallier in his office in Erbil on Wednesday

"Ambassador Chevallier thanked President Barzani for the initiative he announced regarding the Iraqi political process," read a statement released by Barzani Headquarters. "Chevallier expressed his hope that this initiative will remove obstacles and barriers to the political process in Iraq."

In the meeting, Barzani told Chevallier that the political parties should avoid violence and use the language of dialogue and political understanding. 

The recent threats posed by ISIS terrorists were another topic they discussed in the meeting.

"Chevallier emphasized the coalition's continued support of and cooperation with Peshmerga forces in Kurdistan Region," the statement added.
