ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC–2022) in Germany on Saturday.

"I was glad to see the Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the sidelines of MSC-2022 following our call and exchanges last year," Barzani tweeted. "I thanked him for his support with the recent migrant issue."

The two leaders agreed to stay in close contact.

On Nov. 18, 2021, Barzani and his polish counterpart had a phone call in which they discussed the migrant crisis on the Polish-Belarus border and "ways to address the situation."

At that time, the two leaders agreed that "migrants have been deceived by organized traffickers" and described "the migrants as victims of organized crime."

In the same phone call, the Polish prime minister welcomed the measures taken by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to disrupt the criminal networks in the Kurdistan Region, including restrictions at airports and borders and arrests of those who have been involved in trafficking vulnerable families.

On the sidelines of MSC-2022, Barzani held a series of meetings with the world's influential political and security leaders. They discussed the most appealing security and economic topics of the day.
