PM Barzani to participate in event for International Women's Day

The event is titled 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow' and will take place at 2 pm in Erbil.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani will participate in an event on Tuesday to mark International Women's Day. 

The prime minister will deliver a speech at an event, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government. 

The event is titled 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow' and will take place at 2 pm in Erbil. 

Kurdistan 24 will livestream the gathering. 

“Protecting and empowering women is our common duty, and key to Kurdistan’s future,” the prime minister tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

Having been officially adopted as an international day by the United Nations in the mid-1970s, International Women's Day is held annually on March 8 to celebrate women's achievements in various fields and raise awareness of gender inequality.
