ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi government condemned the early Tuesday US airstrikes on the Kataib Hezbollah group following an explosive drone attack by the militia forces on the Coalition Forces against ISIS in Erbil.

The Iraqi government condemned the US airstrikes, saying they targeted “Iraqi military sites”, where a service member was killed and 18 others were injured. Baghdad described the US attack as “a clear hostile act.”

The U.S. statements—from the White House, Pentagon, and CENTCOM—all identified the group most responsible for the attack: Kata’ib Hizbollah, and they linked the militia to Iran.

In the first part of the statement, the Iraqi government condemned the attacks on diplomatic missions as well as bases hosting military advisors, similarly describing the repeated attacks as “hostile acts.”

Pentagon has previously announced that more than 100 attacks had been carried out against its forces in both Syria and Iraq since Oct. 17 following the eruption of the Israel-Hamas war.

The US has responded five times to the attacks, resulting in numerous causalities among the Iranian-backed militia forces.
