ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A drone was shot down by the US-led coalition on Thursday evening near Erbil International Airport at 18:50PM, the Kurdistan Region Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) announced.

Also on Dec. 31 and on Dec 2, an explosive drone was shot down near Erbil airport, causing no damage.

Iranian-backed armed groups have stepped up rocket and drone attacks on U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq, including those from the Kurdistan Region.

This followed the eruption of the Hamas-Israel war, sparked by the Hamas Oct. 7 bloody attack on the southern communities of the Jewish state.

Since then, the American forces both in Iraq and Syria have come over more than 100 attacks.
