PM Masrour Barzani receives new South Korean envoy
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday Barzani received Seungcheol Lim, the new Republic of Korea consul general in Erbil, according to a government statement.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the diplomat on the new role, wishing him success in the endeavor and expressed the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s support for the diplomatic mission to enhance friendly relations between South Korea and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, a statement from the premier’s office read.
Expressing his pleasure to assume his duties in the Kurdistan Region, Consul General Lim reiterated his country's desire to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, especially in the field of economic development and benefiting from the Asian country’s experience.
The newly inaugurated diplomat has recently replaced his predecessor Consul General Cho Kijoung, who had concluded his duties in September last year.
Since the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, the Republic of Korea has been closely involved in the Kurdistan Region through funding and supporting development projects, including health and reconstruction projects and the building of schools.
