PM Barzani makes six decisions favorable for Halabja residents

According to an announcement by the Kurdistan Region Government, PM Barzani has ratified some decisions that could prove favorable for the residents of Halabja.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrur Barzani, during his visit to Halabja Province, supervised a special meeting and outlined the plan to expedite the procedures to turn Khormal into a district.

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Minister of Interior of Kurdistan Region, Governor of Halabja, and all senior representatives of Halabja province participated in the meeting. The central talks were about the current status of the province in terms of services and the plans for improving them.

According to an announcement by the Kurdistan Region Government, PM Barzani has ratified some decisions that could prove favorable for the residents of Halabja. The decisions are as follows:

1-      The procedures of turning Khormal into a district to be expedited.

2-      500 persons to be offered contracts of employment to work in the Kurdistan Region institutions.

3-      The roads within the city of Halabja to be repaired and re-tarmacked.

4-      A committee to be formed to follow up and monitor a percentage of the province’s border crossing revenues and use that to improve the service provided to residents of Halabja province.

5-      Halabja province to be given power to carry out the masterplan of the city that has already been planned for by the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism.

6-      The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to decide opening a Medical College in the University of Halabja and carry out all the necessary steps toward this goal.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani visited the Halabja Traffic Directorate on Thursday and presented the first license plate (23 A10000) to a resident of the city.

Prime Minister Barzani, accompanied by a top Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation, arrived in Halabja province on Thursday morning.

The Prime Minister visited the Martyrs Monument and laid a wreath in the symbol of the Halabja martyrs.

Meanwhile, Barzani noted in the memorandum of the monument that: "I am honored to visit Halabja again. I ask God to bless the souls of the martyrs with paradise and cure the injured. We all endeavor that such crimes against the Kurdish people will not happen again.”
