KRG Health Minister Reports Implementation of Groundbreaking Reforms in 9th Cabinet

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Amid the reception of Iraq’s Minister of Health Saleh Mehdi Al-Hasnawi to the Kurdistan Region in Sulaimani, and speaking to the media in a joint press conference, the Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Health, Dr. Saman Barzinji, announced the opening of a new production line for medical solutions.

“The new line of production could produce 17 different types of medical solutions,” the Minister said.

Dr. Saman Barzinji highlighted that, “major changes have been made in the past two years in the field of re-registration of products and re-registration of manufacturing factories, especially those coming from abroad.”

The KRG’s Health Minister also remarked that groundbreaking reforms and changes have been implemented in the quality control and provision of medical services in the 9th cabinet.

On Wednesday, Dr. Saman Barzinji, KRG’s Minister of Health, and Erbil’s Governor Omed Khoshnaw received Iraq’s Health Minister Saleh Mehdi al-Hasnawi, accompanied with high-ranking delegates, in Erbil, Kurdistan Region.

Later in a press conference, Iraq’s Minister of Health announced that, “The provision of medicine is the responsibility of the Iraqi government. Only last year, an estimate of 185-billion-dinar worth of medical equipment was sent to the Kurdistan Region.”

Mr. al-Hasnawi added that he has paid visits to numbers of medical centers and hospitals in Erbil and is aware of and analyzed health-related issues.

“We have met with the Directory of Health in Erbil and senior officials of the health sector in the Kurdistan Region. We have evaluated the Iraqi government contributions and medical support that has been sent to the Kurdistan Region. Tomorrow we will visit Sulaimani and inspect hospitals and medical centers of the city,” he clarified.
