ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Saturday, the Kurdistan Region’s (KRG) Minister of Health Dr. Saman Barzinji participated in a news conference and announced that the field of dentistry is progressing.

“In terms of infrastructure, this field is mostly meeting the standards; we are also witnessing progress in terms of equipment and patients’ treatment, as well as setting the routine schedule and guidelines,” he stated.

Dr. Saman Barzinji highlighted, "Dental services are now available throughout the Kurdistan Region at an advanced level across all specialties. It is a source of pride that, whereas many years ago patients had to go abroad for treatment due to a lack of services and scientific capacity, we are now operating at a high level of expertise.”

He also remarked that the majority of doctors now adhere to infection control rules and preventive measures for transmissible diseases.

“However, it is crucial for both the dentist and the supervising staff, including institutional managers of clinics, hospitals, or centers, to closely monitor the infection control processes” he added.

He emphasized that ensuring the use of modern medical equipment, such as autoclaves, and discontinuing the use of outdated equipment without scientific basis is now crucial for infection control and other cleaning items within every healthcare center, hospital, and health facility.
