KRG Minister joins Ramadan meal, highlights significance of KDP statement

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Monday, the Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Transport and Communications Ano Jawhar participated in a Ramadan the fast-breaking evening meal organized for the employees of the Transport and Communications Ministry.

During the event, Mr. Jawhar told Kurdistan24 that, “in the capital of coexistence, Erbil, Muslims, Christians, Kakeyis, and Yazidis have prepared this fast-breaking evening meal together to show the strong sense of brotherhood between them.”

Mr. Jawhar indicated that Kurdistan Region belongs to all its communities and “together shall make it stronger.” He also pointed out the importance of the statement released earlier by Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

Regarding the KDP’s statement, Mr. Jawhar highlighted that, “the statement conveys message of freedom to the world, and declares the Federal Court’s decision as unconstitutional, illegal, and a system that lacks legitimacy.”

He clarified that any election, conducted on the basis of the imposed law by the Federal Court, is unconstitutional and ultimately unjust.

“KDP has protected the grandeur of democratic institutions, Kurdistan’s coexistence, freedom and the rights of all communities of the Kurdistan Region,” Jawhar maintained.

On March 18, 2024, the KDP Political Bureau issued a statement addressing Iraq's current situation, Erbil-Baghdad relations, Kurdistan's parliamentary elections, and Federal Court decisions.

They emphasized, " Here, we hold the parties of the state administration coalition accountable for their national responsibility in implementing the constitution and all aspects of the political and administrative agreement to establish the current Iraqi government under the leadership of Mr. Mohammed Shia al-Sudani; otherwise, we cannot proceed with the political process."
