ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Dindar Zebari, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Coordinator of International Advocacy, on Sunday told Kurdistan24 that “the international community acknowledges that only the Kurdistan Region is a true friend, as it is a democratic region, a place of coexistence not only within Iraq but also throughout the region at large.”

Zebari also referred to United Nations Security Council Resolution 688 and called it “a significant resolution” that led to the establishment of the Kurdistan Region.

KRG Coordinator of International Advocacy said that there are dozens of UN Security Council resolutions to renew the UN envoy in Iraq, including the legitimacy of the KRG and the resolution of disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.

“When the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister visited the US and met with the Secretary of State, Blinken's words were obvious. He emphasized the importance of the Kurdistan Region's position and pointed out that it is important to continue this successful governance in the Region,” he noted.

Meanwhile, he added, "We are the first region in the world to be welcomed in this way by the US.”
