ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Wayne David, Shadow Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Minister for the Middle East & North Africa, on Monday told Kurdistan24 that they are extremely appreciative of the Peshmerga and “we must not forget that we are in a real debt of gratitude and that the friendship which we are now seeing must be developed and taken much further.”

Regarding Removing quota seats by the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court the British MP said that everything must be done with the agreement of all the political parties and “I'm very concerned if indeed this is an arbitrary action.”

“I think it's vitally important but in every country which claims to be a democracy there must be judicial independence and the courts must be free and above politics. The legal system is one thing, but the judicial system is something else,” David stated.

Concerning Iranian missile strikes on Erbil he said that he is really worried about Iranian aggression in many parts of the world including those activities in the UK.

“I'm especially concerned that there was this flagrant aggression displayed in Kurdistan [Region] and I think it's quite deplorable and the International Community must take a strong stance and make it absolutely clear that this kind of action is totally reprehensible and we stand firmly against it,” David added.

He also said that ISIS is still a threat and “the Peshmerga were very strong and forceful and brave in taking the action they did.”

“The Labour Party is an internationalist party and we have a strong Kurdish community in this country and we work well with them and have excellent relationships with them. We work very closely and have good contacts with them,” he concluded.
