ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The United States has strongly condemned the arson attack on the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (PDK-S) and has called for an immediate halt to assaults on political party offices in northern Syria (Rojava).

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 25, 2024, the US Embassy in Syria denounced the burning of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP-S) headquarters in Qamishli. The embassy emphasized the necessity of ending all attacks on political institutions in northern Syria and urged that those responsible be brought to justice.

Furthermore, the US Embassy urged all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue to advance the aspirations of the Syrian people without resorting to violence.

The condemnation comes in the wake of a statement by the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC, or ENKS) on April 24, 2024, revealing that fighters allegedly affiliated with the Democratic Union Party (PYD) had attacked the headquarters of both the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria (PDK-S) and the Kurdistan Democratic Union-Syria in Qamishli, resulting in the destruction of property.

The KNC statement also reported an attempted arson attack on the office of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) in the city of Tarpaspi in Northeastern Syria (Rojava), denouncing the assault as a premeditated act of terrorism.

These incidents follow a similar attack on March 1, 2024, when the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK-S) in Kobanê, northern Syria (Rojava), was targeted.

The United States' condemnation underscores the need for peaceful dialogue and respect for political plurality in northern Syria to ensure the realization of the Syrian people's aspirations.
