ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The rising rents in Baghdad have caused many of its residents to move to areas unsuitable for living. The minimum rent in Baghdad is 400,000 dinars.

Many pressures are on Baghdad residents, from suffocating traffic congestion and a lack of job opportunities to rising rents, which are beyond many families' means.

Shihab Ahmad, a resident of Baghdad, told Kurdistan24, “The minimum rent is 450,000 dinars. How can a worker with no income or a salary of 250,000 dinars a month like me afford this amount of money for rent, expenses, and food and drink?”

Another resident, Ali Abbas, said: "The rental situation in Baghdad is dire. It is too much for residents to have two rooms for 400,000 or 450,000."

“The rent increase is related to the increase in house prices, which is caused by inflation,” Mustafa Ahmad told Kurdistan24.

With the increase in rent in Baghdad, the relevant parties are still ignoring the issue and have no solution to it.
