WASHINGTON, United States (Kurdistan24) – A member of the US House of Representatives recently said that if elected president Donald Trump would support the US’ allies in the Middle East.

Tom Reed, a Republican for New York’s 23rd congressional district, told Kurdistan24 that Trump would honor the US’ “long relationships” with partners in the Middle East.

The Kurds, undoubtedly, fall into this category.

“[Trump] recognizes the long relationships that we have with our allies, he knows who our friends are across the world and will stand with [them],” he said.

He also explained that Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran was a mistake, and Trump would address it and lead from the “front.”

“[Obama] has taken us down this path with the nuclear deal with Iran, I stand opposed to it, I think it’s a dangerous path,” Reed stated.

“With the [Trump] presidency, you’re not going to see that weak leadership, you’re going to see leadership from the front, not from behind,” he continued.

The Congressman also discussed the threat of the Islamic State (IS) and said that Trump would protect the US’ national security.

“[Trump’s] a true leader that recognizes the threat that we have in [IS] and making sure that jihadists, Islamic terrorism is addressed,” Reed said.

Additionally, the Republican politician stated that to “conquer” IS, the group’s ideology and motives must be defined.

Moreover, Reed compared Trump and his Democratic opposite Hillary Clinton, stating that Clinton “relies on poll data before making a decision” while Trump is a strong leader.

“With [Trump], you see an executive, you see someone who has made decisions all of their life and can get it taken care of,” the Congressman concluded.
