ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Civil Defense Directorate in the Kurdistan Region capital on Saturday said they had found the remains of an infant, who was swept away during the deadly flash floods that struck Erbil city and nearby villages in late 2021.

Daner Nabaz, just under a year old, was reportedly in his father's arms just before the flood's current took him in Sorbashi village, located in Shamamk subdistrict, southwest of Erbil. The directorate noted that the remains had been sent for procedural forensic analysis.

Daner was among 11 people who died in Erbil after the torrential rains that hit southern Erbil province on December 17. Since then, civil defense teams and Daner's family have been looking for the missing child.
