ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday in a post on X expressed concern over Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter accident.

“I’m following the news of the helicopter incident carrying Iran’s President Raisi with deep concern. I hope that all on board are safe and sound. We stand in solidarity with the leadership and people of Iran during this difficult time," the Kurdistan Region President said.

Iranian President Raisi's helicopter suffered a hard landing on Sunday afternoon, according to Iranian state media.

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent operations department told Iranian media that more than 46 rescue teams are currently searching for the president's helicopter and his accompanying delegation.

He added that their teams had reached the scene but unfortunately due to poor weather conditions, the searches had not yielded any results.

"Unfortunately, nothing could be found by airplanes or drones due to heavy fog," he added.
