ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The media office of Internal Security Forces (Asayish) on Friday confirmed four of their members were killed in a Turkish drone strike near Qamishli.

The Syrian-Kurdish Asayish members, not to be confused with the Kurdistan Region Asayish, were reportedly visiting their military centre to pick up equipment for the ongoing Al-Hol operation.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with the support of the U.S.-led Coalition and Asayish, last week staged an operation in Syria’s notorious Al-Hol camp that hosts thousands of ISIS families. The SDF had received intelligence ISIS was planning to attack the camp.

“These attacks cannot hinder us from performing our duties,” the Asayish media centre said. “We will work harder, more resolutely and more determined than ever before to achieve stability in our regions.”

Turkey has recently stepped up drone strikes in northeast Syria, something the SDF says is due in part to the U.S. giving Turkey its unofficial blessing to launch the airstrikes.

Also in October, a Turkish drone strike killed 29 Asayish members in Derik.
