ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Friday met with several world senior officials and leaders on the sidelines of the 28th UN Climate Conference’s (COP28) opening ceremony in Dubai.
The prime minister was welcomed by United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Barzani met with several top leaders, including King Charles of the United Kingdom, French President Emmanuel Macron, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Jordan’s King Abdullah, and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, among several other important heads of state.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in Dubai and underlined he is "pleased to return to the UAE to join the global conversation in COP28."
"Failure to act is not an option. We, as a people and an integral part of our region, must play a part."
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani also joined the COP28 conference at the official invitation of host country United Arab Emirates.
The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC or COP28, is the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference, taking place from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12, 2023, at Expo City in Dubai.
