Al-Jarwan: world should support Kurdistan

Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Bin Mohammed al-Jarwan, in a meeting with the Kurdistan Region president Masoud Barzani on Monday, congratulated Peshmerga forces for their recent victories against Islamic State (IS) militants.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (K24) – The Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Bin Mohammed al-Jarwan, in a meeting with the Kurdistan Region president Masoud Barzani on Monday, congratulated Peshmerga forces for their recent victories against Islamic State (IS) militants according to a statement on the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) website.

“In the meeting the Arab parliament speaker congratulated recent victories of Peshmerga forces against IS militants and expressed his condolences for Peshmerga losses,” the KRP statement read.

President Masoud Barzani thanked Al-Jarwan’s country, UAE and its organization that have been supporting the Kurdistan Region during its hardship to assist refugees and Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP), the statement from KRP said.

Al-Jarwan and his delegation expressed their support for the rights of Kurdish people and stated that, “The world should support the people of Kurdistan.”

Barzani told the Arab parliament delegation that “in order to resolve the refugee crisis, their areas that have been controlled by Islamic State (IS) militants should be liberated.”

Al-Jarwan, accompanied by Deputy Speaker of Kurdistan parliament and the Erbil governor, paid a visit to Bahirka camp for IDPs and told reporters that the camp “needs more support from the international community and we ask the Iraqi government to play its role in helping the Kurdistan Region and IDPs in this camp and other camps.”

Speaking to the reporters, Al-Jarwan thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its outstanding efforts to help the refugees and IDPs.
