Ministers from Iraqi Progress Party submit resignations following al-Halbousi's termination

All of the party’s members in the Iraqi parliament are planning to boycott legislative sessions and resign from the presidency and parliamentary committees.

Iraq Iraqi Progress Party Mohammed al-Halbousi Iraqi Parliament

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Progress Party (also known as the al-Takadum Movement) issued a statement following Iraq's Federal Supreme Court’s rule to terminate the parliament membership of Iraqi Parliament speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi.

The Progress Party has decided to boycott meetings of the State Administration Coalition and submit the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim, Minister of Industry and Minerals Khaled Battal al-Najm, and Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Archaeology Ahmed Fakak al-Badrani.

Furthermore, all of the party’s members in the Iraqi parliament are planning to boycott legislative sessions and resign from the presidency and parliamentary committees.

The Progress Party was founded in 2019 by al-Halbousi, Anbar Province Governor Ali Farhan, and Yahya al-Muhammadi. The party secured 37 seats in the 2021 Iraqi parliamentary election.
