PM Masrour Barzani approves treatment of 100 thalassemia patients abroad

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has approved the treatment of 100 thalassemia patients outside the Kurdistan Region.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in coordination with the Office of Foreign Relations, were instructed to take necessary measures to treat patients in both Turkey and Jordan.

On July 23, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani approved the allocation of about three billion Iraqi dinars ($2.3 million) to provide medical supplies and treatment for thalassemia patients in the Kurdistan Region.

Moreover, on April 19, PM Barzani proclaimed the availability of free testing and treatment for patients suffering from the disease.

There are about 4,000 thalassemia patients in the Kurdistan Region.
