Four Syrian soldiers killed by ISIS in Palmyra desert

Four soldiers were reportedly killed by ISIS attacks in the Palmyra desert.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – ISIS fighters on Saturday renewed their attacks on regime positions in the Palmyra desert, killing four soldiers, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.

In response to the attacks, Russian fighter jets executed several airstrikes on ISIS hideouts.

Thus far in 2024, ISIS has carried out at least seven attacks on Syrian Government forces that left dozens of Syrian soldiers and members of the National Defense Forces (NDF) dead.

As claimed by Syrian activist Zain al-Abidin, at least 25 were killed in the attacks.

Last year, ISIS also carried out several attacks on the Syrian army, killing dozens of soldiers..

Furthermore, according to a Pentagon report published in August last year citing the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), anti-ISIS operations conducted by the Syrian Government and Iran-backed forces in the desert have shown limited effectiveness.
