Peace is only solution for region’s crises, say KDP President, Armenian President
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani welcomed President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan on Thursday in the hometown of Pirmam in Erbil.
In the meeting, both the KDP President and the Armenian President stressed that the sole solution for the ever-growing and ongoing problems that the peoples of the entire region are battling with is peace.
Another aspect of the meeting discussed between the two parties was the importance of expanding economic ties between Kurdistan Region and Republic of Armenia.
According to the statement released from KDP headquarter, the Armenian President commended the Kurdistan Region for the incredible peace and development; President Khachaturyan also praised the role of President Barzani in spreading message of peace and creating the conditions for the emergence of peaceful coexistence for the various ethnic and religious components of the Kurdistan Region.
President Khachaturyan also praised the steadfastness and commitment of the Kurdistan Region in facing extremism and the ever-present problem of terrorism.
“President Barzani warmly welcomed the Armenian President, and highlighted the historical ties between both nations of Kurdistan and Armenia. President Barzani also praised the Armenian President and the people of Armenia for protecting the rights of Kurdish residents in Armenia,” the statement read.
The statement also underlined that the sole solution to the problems of current and future generations is through peace and peace building process.
Another aspect of their discussion was the Kurdistan Region’s relations with the Federal Government of Iraq. President Barzani reiterated that commitment to the constitution could work as the only solution for the existing issues between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
