PHOTOS: Dutch Defense and Development ministers arrive in Erbil

The Dutch delegation will meet with the Kurdistan Region officials on Monday.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – Two Dutch Ministers of Defense and Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation arrived in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

On Sunday, the Netherland’s Minister of Defense, Jeanine Hennis, and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen, landed in the in the Kurdistan Region on a military plane.

The Dutch delegation is expected to meet with the Kurdish officials and visit Dutch troops training the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces.

The two Dutch ministers were received by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) acting Minister of Peshmerga, Karim Sinjari and other KRG officials at Erbil International Airport.

Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations told Kurdistan24 that Dutch delegation will meet with the KRG officials on Monday.

According to Dutch Ministry of Defense, around 150 Dutch military personnel support Iraqi forces and the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces on the ground with military training and advice.

“This military support complements the political and humanitarian support the Netherlands is already providing in the international fight against the ISIS terrorist organization,” the Defense Ministry states on its website.
